Upgrading to any HD over 137GB+ requires a kernal hack because the tivo doesnt have LBA48 support built into it and free service also requires a kernal hack. Kernal hacking isn't a big deal but you have to DL the software updates yourself and I'm all about zero maintenance. But tell me more about the network hack if you dont mind ;)

the network hack to me is just being able to open up the usb port on it to network it...nothing big, just enables the usb port on the back
