yeah, but the cable companies only have a hard disk recorder...you can only record a single broadcast
tivo you can record two things at once
plus tivo has SO much more than ANY cable companies versions right now
tivo has a patent on a LOT of the technology, so cable companies CAN'T compete
plus, satellite systems plan on using tivo for a long time, instead of trying to do their own....
tivo will live forever
