Bumping
(also Snorting)
Time to get off about 3-5 minutes. Powder is inhaled directly into the nasal passages where the blood vessels absorb the drug. Similar to injecting in terms of risk factors, speed of action, and moderating factors. This is the most common method of use.
Risk Factors.
Snorting drugs tends to destroy the tissue in the nose and snorting becomes progressively more difficult as the amount which is absorbed reduces.
Sharing inhaling instruments can transmit all types of germs from the common cold and flu to possibly Hepatitis C and HIV. The lining of the nasal passages is fairly delicate and can be injured leading to nose bleeds, sinus trouble, and in some cases damage to the nasal structure.
Harm Reduction Techniques:
If sharing, clean off inhaling instruments between use. This is no different from washing dishes after eating.
