my math may be off because of the conversion between miles and kilometers, but think about this for a second: at 120 mph, if you close your eyes or take em off the road for 1 second, you'd have gone 55 meters blindly. a lot can happen in 55 meters.

in all fairness when i race i absolutely DO NOT look at the other car. i keep my eyes ahead.
it's kind of the old 'never look back when you think you're ahead' philosphophy.
but i agree completly. it is definately dangerous. no bones about that. it's just so damn fun, and sometimes, you can race in an area where the 'calculated risk' is minimal.
