None taken. It's a stereotype because it is, largely, quite true. As soon as we found out that flights were diverted to halifax and st. johns (etc) there was floods of phone calls offering places for people to stay, to cook meals, schools organized staple donation drives... there were lineups literally down the block to give blood. It was really something to be a part of, and the people we helped and their families were very gracious and grateful.

It makes sense for a person who seeks to avoid personal conflict at any cost to go to a place that's the least likely to offer it. The point I was making is that many in this part of the world were personally hurt at his non-reaction, and while atlantic canadians are friendly, we also don't forget easily. Just ask Boston, whom we send big ol' christmas tree as a thank you from us every year (for close to 7 decades now) for their help in cleaning up after the halifax harbour explosion.

We know who our friends are. We also know when some smarmy git tries to use us a photo op in a cynical attempt to appear more 'worldly'.
