Don't expect much love to be forthcoming.
BTW: No offence intended to atlantic province Canadians - any comparison to 'polite' and 'safe' is a direct reference from media and a sincere comment about the good naturedness of these folks (as evidenced by their hospitality).

I agree that, rather than acknowledging the unselfish and genuinely neighbourly actions of Canadians during 9/11 as it happened (they routed all planes to Canada), dubya was loudest in proclaiming that the Canadian border is too lax and poses a threat to America (with undertones that we provided the environment for the terrorists of 9/11 to prepare and attack).

That was bass ackwards in terms of priorities according to many.

Just one small (but consistent) example of the disrespect many have perceived here.

We could understand dubya visiting Mexico first after he first took office, but not visiting his largest trading partner in his entire first term of office does not embody a sense of respect towards our country.

For a 'world leader', we have not seem much in the way of statemanship or diplomacy.

However, according to interviews I have seen with high government officials in the state of Texas, dubya is considered a Texacan true and true. Right from the rifle-rack in the pickup to the 'who cares about anyone other than Texas' mentality (this is how the state officials described the way of the Texan).

While this may be fine for an insular community (we have our rednecks too), but a person spawned from this pond has no business claiming ability to understand, lead and/or take on the role of responsible leadership on a wordwide scale.

... as is clearly evidenced by the decimation of the outstanding economic acheivements of the Clinton era and the endless ongoing global disasters with 'made in usa' written all over them.
