I buy typein domains. I started less than 3 months ago and it has worked beyond my expectations. I was too lucky in some purchases and unlucky in some others.
Now generally talking about domains that get traffic I consider the best way to surf sites from categories you are interested and approach the owners of those that you think they make a bad effort on bringing revenues. There are plenty and for a proper price they would sell them.
