F.e. when it comes to a politician name, he could probably win in some court in a case when someone registers a typo of his name.

But this depends also on the court, f.e an US court could have a different opionion than WIPO etc...

Domains names are such a relatively new thing that different institutions may have different opinions on it.

And even when f.e a politician could win in court, they would sometimes probably prefer to buy a name silently, since they prefer to spend a few k on a domain name, rather than seeing headlines in the news that Bush people are suing a school teacher that registered www.georgebuhs.com

Remember, also during this capmaing, someone had the domain name www.georgebush2004.com and the Bush people offered him like $100k to buy this name...probably they also knew this was a simply way to get this name fast, since in a court it would take a few months. ( the dumbass declined their offer
).

Btw, I replied here, sicne you linked your thread in my thread, but you shouldn't think that I am the person who knows everything about domains. It may be that what I just said is wrong, and f.e Taboo or Dombuyer could tell you more.
Most of what you said makes sense to me. I would definitely appreciate additional input from Taboo, KRL, Dombuyer, or any other big player and I appreciate yours as well.
