It depends on the size of the dog.
The old way of thinking was multiply by 7.
However they now estimate using a scale of the size of dog.
small dogs = multiply by 7
medium dogs = multiply the first 5 years by 7, the remainder by 5 and add.
large dogs = multiply the first 3 years by 7, the remainder by 5 and add.
My dad is a former pedigree dog breeder.
