It depends what kind of a conventioneer/partier you are.
Do you really need to go back and forth to your room every ten minutes to reapply cologne etc? Do you think being at most a $10 cab ride away will ruin your chances of getting Teen Kelly or Juicy back to your room?
Treat each day like a sightseeing day trip and just go back to your room at the end of the day to change/shower etc for the night time stuff and you will have many more options for room choices.
