Matter of fact, I don't think they should die at all. "To the pain" is a really good idea, and came in a really good movie.
Start with the feet, knees, genitals, chest, hands, arms, face, eyes, lop off the nose, disfigure them until they are barely recognizable as human, but leave the ears alone. Let them forever hear every scream of terror, every cry of horror, every lament of pity and every cruel laugh that comes from those who can see them, see what they look like on the inside turned outside for the world to see. Let them keep those perfectly shaped ears. Let them wallow in anguish and agony, fear and loathing for the rest of their days.
Oh yeah, and ban them too.
