Do it, there is internet everywhere.

living with no anchors: i completely agree. i try to simplify and avoid long term commitments and hassles as much as possible. simplicity over all else.
I used to poke fun at people who rented and leased everything. I understand the mindset of people with money doing it, not the mindset of people with no money trying to live richly. I was joking a couple months ago with a friend and said, "Dude, when I want to leave here I just will make a phone call to the leasing people and say 'Yeah, come and pick up the furniture, car, and I will leave the keys to the house on the counter'"

regarding the sports car weakness - i suppose it really isn't, but many people regard it as such. the 350Z is a great car. i'm currently driving a C4S 911, thinking seriously about the Gallardo.
Fine vehicles. I loved my 911, and would buy another one when I settle down in one place for more than 6 months. Although I was pondering a road trip around the South West for the spring... That would be fun. Meet some cool people and have some alone time.

companionship: i understand where you're coming from, and what you're saying. it's the 'high maintenance' factor, along with never having the same person with you, that i'm not all that keen on. perhaps i'm just wired slightly differently than you in that respect.

what i'd really like is to simply find the right girl to travel the entire world with. oh, and i look forward to your book
The person to travel with is my goal. That is why I target the Euros that are on the 'stripper circuit'. They are already on the road, and it is the mindset I love. Currently I visit them back in their home lands, and go around Europe with them. I would never go to another country again, without knowing someone there. You can only research an itinerary so much, but locals know it all.

In the end the question you have to ask is, can you tolerate another person for 24 hours a day? I can't and I know it. I hate being the entertainer, as most people are clinging and need another person to do everything for them. I have enough worrries of my own let alone having to worry if the other person 'is having fun'. So if you can set youself up with something similar to what I have, it is easier. You land, hang out with friends for a few days to a week, move on to another country.

i believe i more or less understand your use of the word (girlfriend). as far as the cash, i still figured you were burning much, much more than 10K a month. not bad at all. please post or email me pics David.
I have the good fortune of knowing the right people. I have a good friend who works for Intercontinental Hotels. So in Europe I stay at the Crowne Plaza, Intercontinetals, and Holiday Inns (European ones are much different than USA), at very attractive rates (Less than $100 a night). Last time I was in Prague I had a 600 Euro a night suite for $100 a night. So with unfettered spending on dining, entertainment, hotels, and airfare it is about $10K give or take. Flights out of the USA are the only option for me. I find the rest of the world gets raped on their airfare.

again, your thoughts, written down, always inspire me. right now (this minute) i feel like shutting things down, buying a plane ticket and flying away. it's tough walking away from it all though. it's going to happen, i just don't know exactly when.
Glad to hear it. As I said in a previous post, I just wish someone had sat me down and told me this shit a long time ago. I would have listened.
