I think it's dawning on Carter he will never be great, and he's lashing out.
I think he's part of a greater trend in which athletes are so fully coddled--especially when Mom's in the mix--that they simply don't have the desire to be great, but only entertaining.
Jordon didn't care about the money, but cared deeply about being great. He enjoyed his money, and apparently lots of honies, but on court, he was all business. Different era though. The world has changed dramatically in just the last 15 years or so.
