Actually, I love most wild animals. I'm also big on reptiles, dogs and ferrets.
As for why they deserve to live more than a pig or cow, it's just my personal taste. A simple matter of opinion.

Having different opinions is great, but part of having different opinions is respecting those opinions of others. Saying "its about time" when people are being shot at for participating in a totally legal activity is actually pretty sick if you ask me.
