What? And where do you get this information?
Everybody I have ever known has had the desire to do some world traveling, check out other countries and see what they're about, view the beautiful sights they see in pictures and learn more about what they read in history books.
I don't know one person that wouldn't love to visit Europe. Unfortunately, its very expensive to travel to Europe and other far away countries, especially if you have a family. In Europe, you have many first world neighbors to visit cheaply. My friends went to Germany this summer and were able to explore 3 different countries and soak up 3 different cultures, all within 2 weeks.
You can't do that here. Sometimes it seems like people don't realize how big the United States is. We can't just hop on a bus or train and tour 3 countries in a day. Hop on a bus, drive for a day and you're still in the United States! The same people, the same culture.
We can go up to Canada, but come on, even though we like to bitch at them and vice-versa, we really aren't that much different. Our other neighbor is Mexico. Joy. Mexico isn't a bad place, but really, thats ALL we have.
To say "Most Americans wont say anything similar ever in their lifetime about other countries" is pretty silly. To say "most Americans would like to visit other countries in their lifetime but can't always afford it" would be more accurate.
