The general line given by those against the war is that Saddam was being starved by UN sanctions and would have had to step down anyway. I'm simply saying that isn't true due to the Food For Oil program and the only way to starve Saddam out of power would have been for the UN to pass a resolution to not accept any oil from Iraq for any goods or services, period.

This other individual tried to argue that America should have bought Iraqi oil so that the Iraqi people would have had more money in their economy. I'm denying that would have happened and that Saddam would have taken all that money himself to build more palaces. We would have been enabling him rather then helping the Iraqi people.

In the end there wasn't much of anything we could have done to help the Iraqi people.
