That definitely sounds like you are streching on your RAM. Try this...
Go to RUN on the start menu and type in
msconfig.
Click the
Startup tab on the box that comes up. UNcheck everything in that list except your anti-virus or firewall. Click Apply, restart and try listening to music then.
