Falluja
U.S. and Iraqi forces have gained more ground in Falluja, and now control 80 percent of a largely abandoned city still populated by elusive pockets of hard-core insurgent holdouts, a top Marine has said.
So far, 22 "coalition warriors" have died, a reference Sattler made to U.S. troops. Iraqi officials said five Iraqi forces have died.
About 170 troops have been wounded, and 40 of them returned to the battlefield. Sattler said about 600 insurgents have been killed.
Sattler said 300 people have surrendered at a mosque, believed to be a combination of civilians and insurgents.
