This is something he's taken a LOT of time and effort to put together, and it will be very thorough.
Hi,

I'm sure he is quite competent in his area of expertise and there is no doubt that e-commerce brings very unique elements of law into play which we must be mindful of in addition the criminal law implications.

Personally with respect to c-20, I'm most interested in:

- understanding the exact ramifications

- to know when and what (if anything) actually passes

- what the '18 over/under age' really boils down to

- what is the anticipated response law enforcement is likely to have should the bill (or parts of it) pass

- 'grandfather' implications - what about all that 'used to be totally legal' content

- and most of all, an experienced summation (practical advice) based on first hand experience in dealing with recent criminal law, negotiating with prosecutors (ultimately it's the prosecutors who will push the hardest on the dominos if they are directed to act by their superiors), understanding the legal/political climate and the balance of the judiciary with respect to all of this

We have new recent Canadian cases that are precedent setting in our industry (Sweet Entertainment) - this has to be reconciled with c-20 as well.

I think it would be mandatory that the 'legal expertise' preparing for this seminar contact the legal team of Sweet Entertainment (Vancouver, BC) or at least understand the case, judgment and what that does to the big picture.

I appreciate that legal training and 'bar' certification does indicate competence and an ability to 'learn on demand' for a particular project. I have found that the more 'affordable' legal experts are willing to 'ramp up/research' on the fly but they lack the first hand experience of the front lines which what you will want if things go south. The experienced 'experts' of course will cost you more dearly up front but in some things you only get one chance.

My experience has been such that, when 'push comes to shove', I would like the same 'expert' advising me to be prepared to defend me as well.

In any case, this is a great thing you're pulling together!

Regrettably, I'm stuck on the big island indefintely and will not be able to participate in this workshop.

I do hope that, just as with 2257 issues in the US, over time, there will become a reliable body of accurate information pertinent to Canadian adult webmasters which is available freely to all and not only those who can afford the 'cover charge' (whatever it may be).

All the best,
-Dino
