There's a long list of mistakes, in detail they make for some great story telling. Here's a few:
1) Instead of continuing in the tradition of operating my own BBS once I got into high school I got a license and started dating. Missed the whole internet phenominon.
2) Took on a business partner #1 in 1999 because he brought 25k to the table when I had the funds to begin with and proceeded to fund the next 100k anyways.
3) Never having operated a porn site in '99 when we bought the established porn site we got screwed, royally. Didn't know how to do proper due dilligence on a porn site... traffic got redirected, he played NetSol domain transfer games. blah blah blah
4) Used my own merchant accounts for the first year and a half in business. EEK-GADS
5) Got screwed by business partner #1 and had about $20,000 stolen from me, finally dumped that loser douchebag in August of '00.
5) Consistently underestimated my abilities. In creating the world's greatest phone sex company I took on a partner once again when I didn't need to. Grew the fuck out of the company entirely by myself and gave half of it away to him in August of '01 to end the useless partnership.
.... okay enough bitching. Things are good, I'm smart as hell now and making bank
I just had a steep and expensive learning curve.
