many people say they are one orientation or another for social reasons and it sometimes conflicts with what they actually feel inside. Sometimes new feeling hit a person outa nowhere. the problem is this usually ends up brusting out at some time in the person's life - in negative ways - like guys who say they are hetro and suddenly have unexplained homosexual feelings will often lash out against the homosexual community as a coping method.
