My husband was the computer person in the house.. none of us knew anything about computers until he taught us..

when hubby passed away, I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to keep my computer running well enough to run my business.

but then my 12 yr old boys became interested, and started fooling with their own computers.. they got viruses, and tons of adware, screwed their systems up so bad they were without their computers for months at a time.. I tried to help them but I just didn't know enough about computers to be much help, and I wasn't in a position to pay for them to be in the shop all the time.

I bought them books and cds on computer repair and told them to go ahead and try to fix it themselves.. it took a few months of constant formating, and searching for information, but finally they starting learning.. fast

They're 14 now and have their own computer business. They do it all themselves, I just help with funding. We have a ton of computer parts in our "computer room" now and they're actually making money fixing other people's computers and building ones from parts they buy online.

Kids learn much better than adults do.. if you start them young enough it's possible for them to learn almost anything if they have the interest.

Makes me kind of proud that I can look to them to fix my computer now instead of taking it to the shop or asking someone else for help
