what gets me is that the girl's mom sounds like a complete dipshit:
'The mother of the teenage girl asked Judge Doneghy to impose a maximum sentence.
"This invasion of the Internet has changed our entire lives. As a mom, life is difficult. I love my daughter. What did I do wrong is the question I keep asking myself. What if I could have prevented this," she said.'
What is that all about, "with the invasion of the internet"? That's bullshit. Talk about passing the blame. Internet or not, when I was fourteen, there was absolutely no way I would have been out fucking 30 year old men on a webcam, or anywhere else for that matter. My parents for the most part knew what I was up to, aside from some minor things like making out with high school boys, some drinking, smoking a little pot, the usual adolescent stuff. How could this girl's mom have been so out of touch with her own daughter? It takes some major planning and conniving to get a fake i.d. at 14, and this girl is no "victim". I don't feel bad for the guy either. If a girl was sixteen and was trying to pass herself off as an 18 year old that is one thing, but 14? Come on! No 14-year-olds look 18, no way, I'm sorry, I don't buy that for a second.
