Awww... come man, be romantic. Women like that. Or at least that's what my mom says.
Take her away for the weekend, rent a small cabin somewhere on a lake or in the woods... fly her to an island... take her back to where you had your first date... but DONT do the police thing.
There are a million ways to ask her, search for it online you will find lots of great ideas. But try to be romantic about it, this is huge for many women.
