It would definitely be an honor and enriching experience to have such a relative.
My own grandpa died 12 years ago -- I definitely miss his warm wise words and experienced world view.

I'm happy to share mine while he's still here.
My grandpa was a minister and worked briefly with MLK.
Now he calls himself a baptist budhist. He's amazingly zenned out and has a lot of wisdom.
I actually hired a film student to film our lunches so I can cut a DVD for his great grandkids. And for myself, since I will miss him more than I can think of right now.
