Everything has to be paid for eventually. It's laughable how Americans think writing big checks for health insurance and liability insurance is somehow better than paying taxes, even if it ends up costing them more. (because the companies are for-profit instead of a public service)
As to which countries are the "freeest" ... just about anywhere you go in the civilized world will feel more free. Most of europe and oceania have progressive populations that keep god out of government, they can show boobs and penises on public TV, quite a few have legalized drugs and/or prostitution, are more open to gay marriage (or equivalent), there's less racial tension or bigotry in general, you can act like a real human being in places of work, and (perhaps most importantly) you are much safer with violent crimes a fraction of what we have in the US.
And you'll be free of all the propaganda and fearmongering of Neo-America.
