I'm just perplexed as to why Bush supporters keep calling Saddam a "madman" for fighting the same fight we are now. (and we are being more messy about it and less effective) Who do you think he was killing and imprisoning? All the same radicals who are running around beheading people now. Without someone as brutal as Saddam to control them, they will control the country.
Ah, please do not see my argument equating holding Bush responsible for one thing, and not holding Saddam to the same measure as an endorsement of President Bush, the guy is a complete Muppet, and this election we have two idiots to choose from.

It's rather unfortunate that when we're fighting 'radicals' they themselves are victims -- manipulated by ex-government leaders, and ME terrorists into fighting, most of the Iraqi insurgents are desperate, they are unemployed and do not have municipal services, which helps breed radicals, you cannot stop the creation of insurgents whilst the conditions that pushed people into insurgency still exist.

The attacks on Civilian contractors is a prime example of keeping the conditions in Iraq bleak, in order for ME Terrorists/insurgents to gain popular support, the more contractors leaving means more water pipes are not fixed, houses damaged in the war are left in shambles etc. which causes more Iraqi's to be frustrated and fight.

This was another short coming of the Bush Administration, when he told the World, "Hey, you can't have contracts in Iraq if you didn't fight in the War" the rebuilding of Iraq is slower because of the arrogance of that statement, and as such more insurgents are being indoctrinated into the fold because of the conditions they live in.
