The same reason Sharon is letting him leave on the plane and even saying he can come back- they know he's close to death.
It's best for Israel to accommodate him right now and not do anything that appears to stand in the way of his receiving medical treatment. If he does die, there's no sense in adding fuel to the fire by allowing the Palestinians to blame his death on his inability to receive treatment, due to the Israelis. It's more than likely going to be a clusterfuck either way, but it's an act of diplomacy.
