Most winning candidates historically come in with around 50%. Bush is currently projected to top that. Clinton never topped 50%, and won the first time with a whopping 43%. What you're seeing is a very vocal minority. With the flourishing of the web, it just appears the dissent is larger than it really is - especially in the places you probably hang out.

Yes, the web is the reason several of my close friends that are / were diehard Republicans have gone from loving Bush to hating his guts over the last 4 years. Say what you want but I've seen it first hand over and over again. 50% of the US and 90% of the world hating the same man is not "appearing larger than it really is". Wake up and smell the duck.
