Cristal is Louis Roederer's reply to LVMH's Dom Pérignon. Took'em quite long to get into the market though.

As far as I know, Cristal is also a purely export champaign. You can virtually not find it in France.

What makes both Cristal and Dom Pérignon so good are the size and quantity of the bubbles, and of course also the overall taste. It is not expensive to make, and it exists in rather large quantities, so the prices are purely brand.

You can find better and cheaper champaigns from small family owned companies from France or even from other regions.
