True... but I don't have the option of NOT seeing the thread...
however... that is where it becomes the owner of the board's decision to determine what is allowed and what isn't. This particular BBS, has it posted clearly that they allow one time PROGRAM announcments... not repeated posts about how great something is. To my understanding, that means if you are a regular poster, you are allowed to announce a new program to make people aware of it.
Now I may very well be interpreting that wrong... I'm really not the right guy to ask here about gfy's rules.
But I know what I personally allow at another place. A bbs is a little different than the other methods listed as it's not like a phone that each person individually owns / payes for.... each board may have different guidelines and you can just invent your own. You gotta follow their rules.
That's all I'm saying...
but as far as the phone, door-to-door, email, icq, irc... etc... I see it as spam if I didn't ask for it.
