XL2 is overkill for 95% of guys shooting content because they don't even know how to shoot video in the first place. Shit, even some top porn companies still do not give a fuck about lighting.
XL2 is great if you want to shoot 16:9 but if you are staying in 4:3 (best for most porn) then go with the DVX100A if you want to shoot in 24p or 30p. No prosumer camcorder other than the XL2 matches or beats the picture quality.
Otherwise, the VX2100 is best for most guys since it is the low light king (needed for morons who don't use lights).
That said, I am getting the XL2 next month
