Anyone that says eating out is cheaper than eating at home is crazy!

Seriously Derek, eating at home is very cost efficient, it's better food, and it's much healthier for you. I probably have one "out of the house" meal every 2 weeks, every other meal I eat at home. Doing that, my monthly grocery bill is never more than $120. I AM pretty small and don't eat a whole lot so take that into consideration, but I do get to eat whatever I want.

Go to the store and pick up a bag of frozen chicken breasts, you can get a 4lb bag for around $8-12. You should get about 8 breasts out of it and the possibilities are endless with how you can use it. Chicken sandwiches, chicken salad, barbecue chicken, chicken and pasta, chicken and rice, etc.

Pasta and rice are very inexpensive. Just the other day I bought 5 packages of pasta for $5 and 5 boxes of rice for $4. Each of those items should cover 2-4 meals for one person depending on what else you have with dinner.

You can usually find great deals on canned vegetables. Couple weeks ago I picked up green beans for $0.40 a can. Watch the ads for specials, if you see something on sale be sure to stock up on it.

If you want to eat healthy and cheap you're going to have to start cooking, there's really no way around it, just be smart about it. If you're cooking up pasta, make a couple packages so you have enough for the whole week. Cook in bulk, you'll save money AND time.
