I don't like the word "exploit," because it can have two meanings: 1) as a neutral synonym for "use" and 2) and pejoratively as "to use to the detriment of...." In the capitalist system, everybody exploits everyone. The model exploits the photographer's need for talent, the photographer exploits the model's "talent," the photographer exploits his customer's need for photography, and that person exploits someone else's desire to view it. These are all neutral uses of the term. The bad kind of exploitation is something like slavery, where the exploited party has no options and is just used and discarded. Generally speaking, models freely choose to pose, frequently because they'd rather do that than hold down a "real job" as a waitress or because it brings in more money in less time, giving them more free time for studying, taking care of their baby, or whatever. In other words, while the feminist stands on the outside declaring it exploitation, the so-called "exploited women" actually view it as an opportunity.
