Oh come on tam you're sort of blowing things out of proportion aren't you? The ammount of people who've commited suicide who take anti-depressant medications is probably comparible to the ammount of people who commit suicide who probably would have benefited from anti-depressants.

The first thing my parents thought of when I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and depression was how to make me feel better, and be happier. Being depressed isnt something you can just get over, and being afraid of leaving the house is something thats paralyzing. All meds do is help your brain produce more or less of different chemicals. In my case with my anxiety disorder, my brain was producing to much of one chemical, and not enough of another. Effexor balances the chemical levels out.

And contrary to popular belief, people who take medication for anxiety and depression disorders are not "spaced out" or "zombies". I'm the exact same person I was when I was struggling with anxiety and depression. The medication I take leaves me feeling completely normal.
