I worked with the first 8 superhornets the Navy accepted and tested. We aboslutely destroyed those things with high G maneuvers and all sorts of stuff like that simply to see what they were capable of. Imagine buying and destroying a few Ferraris just to find out if you liked them or not.
F-117s were on the base also, but the hangar was in an area that only a few individuals had access to. Unfortunately, I was not one of them.
I got to participate in the development and tactical development of the JDAM, SLAM, HARM, as well as other weapons and weapon systems. Outside of that, secret bases like Area 51 are extremely boring to serve at except for the occasional brief moment where you get to see something neat come from your work, like pictures from the bombing range. Other then that, it's boring as fuck. Guys went to captain's mast and courts martial constantly because there wasn't anything else to do except get drunk and get into trouble.
