I keep a daily task list, short term business plan done on a quarterly basis and a long term business plan for the year ahead.

My daily task list runs on an easy day about 30 items to a long day well over 100 items I have to take care of, follow up on, etc.

My business plans include budgets, revenue forecasts, sales committments, marketing strategies, capital requirements, expansion plans, etc.

You have to have a plan. This lets you know where you are going and it keeps your work levels in check so you keep pace with the business objectives.
