yeah corrida is an awful sport , at least in spain and france .
but i went to corridas in portugal, where the guys are really fighting as braves , letting the bull charge them and jump between its horns . in portugal they very rarely kill the bull , they usually ( if the bull fought bravely) herd him out the arena with some nice cows, then they heal him and he becomes a stud for breeding . if the bull fought like a coward or is too badly hurt they kill it without further torture (by a professional butcher outside the ring) and redistribute the meat.
Forcados is the best part besides the matadores- The forcados are a group of eight men who challenge the bull directly, without any protection or weapon of defense. The front man provokes the bull into a charge to perform a pega de touros (bull catch). The front man secures the animal's head (usually it is a violent choke) and is quickly aided by his fellows who surround and secure the animal until he is subdued (usually pulling him by the tail).
The bull is not killed in the ring and the fight is accordingly referred to as a "bloodless bullfight".
Matadores - In the Spanish fashion , but without the spear. These men simply play the bull with a red coat.
there is no " public execution" in the portuguese corrida.
i went to see the famous "Chibanga", a black matadore over a decade ago in caldas da reigna, it was a total blast !!
but i hate spanish and french corrida wich is just a bloodbath for wankers.
