I've read many people say things like "the writing was on the wall a long time ago".

What exactly are you refering to? They sale/purchase of Ibill? The 1-900 Billing issue way back?

It would be interesting to compile a list of what people thought were the warning signs. In hindsight it may seem obvious, but was it really? What did Lensman and so many others fail to see?
It perhaps can prepare us to look out for signs in the future.
