Any hunter that wastes their meat is crazy. Even if they don't care for the meat, they can easily sell it for top dollar. I LOVE venison, elk is a little too gamey for my taste though.

You're not allowed to sell game meat in Canada and with reason, would probably lead to more poachers.
But yeah overpopulation is controlled through hunting
