I agree with KRL on one point: if the media glorifies a person just because he was a famous actor, that would be wrong. There's no value in glorifying someone that only lived for himself or his family. So what... that's just a large version of everyone's tunnel-like existence in serving one's self and one's interests. Self-interest and self-seeking people are a dime a dozen billion.
However, Christopher Reeves and other like him are worth celebrating in their deaths

Paralysis is a choice. Many people walk but are in paralysis due to anxiety, depression, low feelings of self-worth, and cheating themselves of their potential. My body maybe paralyzed but I choose to remain active and commit myself to something greater than myself.
Whether you dig on whether 'mere' actors are worth the attention during their deaths, you have to hand it to Christopher Reeves for nailing the essence of what having the opportunity to live is all about. It's not where you come from, disabilities/diseases you have, its what you do with your life to help others that counts.
