Sounds like you're at a time in your life where you're thinking about settling down and this is someone you could be serious with. You can't do that unless the other party wants the same thing. Instead of wondering 'why she doesn't get it', tell her exactly what you want right now. Sit her down, explain that you enjoy her friendship, but what you're missing right now someone for a real relationship. Tell her that you want that relationship to be with her. Don't put her on the spot... but give her some time to let the idea sink in. Tell her to think about it and give you her thoughts about it. If she only wants friendship, then be prepared to look elsewhere.
