Reality is - if someone doesn't love you for who you are and requires you to change it's not the right way to start a relationship. If she did it for him without his request that's different, but if he asked for that - it's wrong and in the end one of them won't be happy.
I'd never ask someone I truly loved to change who they were for me, but if someone does a major change for you I say GO SLOW, and make sure it's real.
