Dick said in the 2000 campaign that he believed that the states should govern themselves with regards to gay marriage and that federal intervention wasn't in the states' best interest.

In the 2004 campaign, Dick said that he supports President G. W. Bush and that a constitutional ban on gay marriage is necessary.

In essence, Dick has switched poles in a single throw double pole switch. That's okay, because we know that anyone can change their mind at any given time. Some people are just man enough to admit it.
