I just read an article in Parade, that's where all of the USA's redneck's came from.
they settled in parts of Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Kentucky, Virgina, N. and S. Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, California (Bakersfield mainly).
Bunch of ridge runners in the Appalachian region ( Mountains).
Scots-Irish and England.
