That is a horribly flawed conclusion to draw.
First of all, if, as I suggested, consciousness/personality filters through the brain and needs the brain to function properly, one would expect that brain disease/deterioration would cause changes in one's personality.
Since she is able to retain her personality when using drugs, it should tells you that it hasn't gone anywhere. It's still there, but cannot manifest through her brain without help.
