I have a 10' big dish. Despite what cable companies or little dish pushers tell you they are not obsolete. Cable and little dish companies get their signals from a big dish before they send them to you.

A 4DTV receiver combines traditional C-band with consumer subscriber digital. That means lots of channels and you get the digital extras for free. For example, Showtime & Co. is 27 channels for less than $30 for 4 months. Not counting movie channels I rotate I spend less than $200 per year for all the subscription channels I want. Channels are available ala carte and most channels are 5-10/year. If you didn't subscibe to anything there is more than you can watch.

Add an FTA receiver to the system (less than $150) and watch even more channels. FTA=Free to Air. If it's unscrambled you can watch it (you can add a card to your PC to watch FTA <$50 ebay, just hook up a dish).

The reason I tell you all of this is because the thread is about music. There is so much free music, both video and audio bouncing over our heads for free that MTV is only a distant memory for me. It's not that expensive to tap into it. You can often get a big dish by offering to haul it off of someone's property. After that you can not only hear music from the world you can see the news from all angles.

Any questions? Just ask me
