I'm sure the people would appreciate us just talking about issues instead of reciting little soundbites we've constructed. What do you say, Mr. President?" and then sit back and wait.
There's nothing he can do. He'll sit there stonefaced like he did when he heard about the 9/11 attacks. He can't say, "Okay, let's just talk" because he doesn't perform well in that format and it's too easy for Kerry to attack him about real issues instead of things like being "flip-floppy". And he can't say "No, I need.. er. want to stick to the rules we set out ahead of time." because then he looks like a baby who can't stand up to Kerry and take him on man to man.
AND it would be so delicious for the political junkies like us out there who love the DRAMA!

the best debate moment ever was Clinton VS Bush Sr. when Clinton turned to Bush and said " It's been 4 years now and the things aren't working. There's still a recession and people are losing jobs and unhappy. Isn't it time for a change?"
Bush could do nothing. It's like asking if your mother knows you're gay, there is no good way to respond. If he says no there is no need for a change then he looks like he's out of touch. If he says yes there is needf for change then he looks like he's failed. Kerry needs to do something like that.
