I'm sure the people would appreciate us just talking about issues instead of reciting little soundbites we've constructed. What do you say, Mr. President?" and then sit back and wait.

There's nothing he can do. He'll sit there stonefaced like he did when he heard about the 9/11 attacks. He can't say, "Okay, let's just talk" because he doesn't perform well in that format and it's too easy for Kerry to attack him about real issues instead of things like being "flip-floppy". And he can't say "No, I need.. er. want to stick to the rules we set out ahead of time." because then he looks like a baby who can't stand up to Kerry and take him on man to man.

AND it would be so delicious for the political junkies like us out there who love the DRAMA!
If you think for ONE SECOND that BOTH parties didn't fight for a structured set up to this you are living in a dream land. Don't be fooled by people that tell you that one side or the other had to be persuaded to set down rules for this event. They BOTH wanted the rules in place.

I still don't understand what is the big deal with that clip. Did anyone with a command of the English language listen to it? In the clip he says....."That is what those tribes are....sovereign. They are sovereign entities. They and the federal goverment should deal with each other as sovereign entities." (I don't have the exact quote, but go back and listen to it.)
