as soon as the new season of the soprano's starts... that will be my sunday night addiction again

also - shows i can't stand right now but watch anyway:

american chopper
biker buildoff

i work at a custom motorcycle shop (not a dealership), we actually build choppers and do custom work to street bikes (custom paint to turbo's)

currently, we are building a 300 wide tire rigid for a customer, its partially together in mock up form in the showroom. everyday people ask if its a west coast chopper or OCC bike. it gets old. we have other choppers come in for various work/upgrades/paint/maintaince and its always the same thing w/ them

just like last summer there wasnt a day that went by that someone didnt mention biker boys about the sport bikes we have in the showroom.

its not really a bad thing - it is somewhat informing the masses that motorcycles are good stuff and that they arnt all about outlaws - but at the same time, its not very realistic. an average chopper can take 6-18 months to build. everything is always on backorder, customers are always changing their minds about parts and nothing ever fits. showing people that these things go together in 30-45 days isnt realistic. the sad part is that they dont show the overnight fedex bills that these bike shops on tv have to pay to get their parts.

the other big false-hood is that it costs 100k to build a chopper... so everytime we have one in the shop or building one, someones gotta ask about that. realisticly its about 1/2-1/3rd of that for a nice bike... about 1/2 for a kick ass bike w/ serious power

ok - dun venting
